Silk Way Rally 2024 to Cross Mongolian Territory, Airing in 25 Countries

Ulaanbaatar, May 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Russian racers and organizers of the Silk Way Auto Rally, an international competition organized on the territory of Mongolia, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, arrived in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. On May 7, 2024, they held a press conference at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mongolia to discuss the details of the 2024 Silk Way Rally.


Viktor Sokolov, the First Deputy Head of the International Project Silk Way Rally, stated, "Our rally began in 2009, and Mongolia joined in 2019. This time, the rally will kick off in Tomsk City, the Russian Federation, on July 5, 2024, and finish on July 15, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. We are excited to organize the second rally in Mongolia. Rallying in Mongolia is a dream for many racers."


He continued, "We held talks with the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia regarding the organization of the auto rally on Mongolian territory. The Mongolian government has expressed its support for organizing the rally, and a joint working group was formed. The two governments of Mongolia and the Russian Federation decided to conduct this auto rally along an expanded route this time."


He added, "This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Victory in the Khalkhin Gol battle. Also, the Government of Mongolia has declared 2023-2025 as the "Years of Visit Mongolia" to develop tourism. We are indeed going to contribute to these initiatives."


The 2024 Silk Way Rally will be broadcast live internationally by reporters and media outlets from 25 countries, which will serve as a significant promotion for Mongolia on the global stage.




A total of 100 teams of reporters from over 20 countries, including Mongolia, the Russian Federation, China, and various European countries, will cover the 2024 Silk Way Rally. The Mongolian segments of the rally will pass through the territories of Bayan-Ulgii, Uvs, Khovd, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Bayankhongor, Uvurkhangai, Dundgobi, and the Central aimags.
